Pakistan’s cement dispatches slightly decreased year-over-year by 0.29% to 2.943 million tons in April 2024 from 2.951 million tons in April 2023.
The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association reported that local dispatches fell by 7.99% to 2.328 million tons in April 2024 from 2.531 million tons in the previous year.
However, export dispatches surged by 45.96% in April 2024, increasing from 420,857 tons to 614,264 tons.
In April 2024, cement mills in the northern region dispatched 2.088 million tons, marking a 4.79% decrease from 2.193 million tons in April 2023.
Mills in the southern region dispatched 854,911 tons, a 12.71% increase from 758,510 tons a year earlier.
Domestic dispatches in the north fell by 7.91% to 1.942 million tons, and in the south, they decreased by 8.36% to 386,783 tons.
Export volumes from northern mills grew by 73.11% to 146,136 tons, and from southern mills by 39.14% to 468,128 tons.
For the first ten months (July to April) of the fiscal year 2024, total cement dispatches (domestic and exports) rose by 2.45% to 37.447 million tons from 36.551 million tons in the prior year.
Domestic dispatches decreased by 4.12% to 31.732 million tons, while exports grew significantly by 65.35% to 5.715 million tons.
Northern mills saw a 3.60% decrease in domestic dispatches to 26.178 million tons and a 37.48% increase in exports to 1.186 million tons. Southern mills’ domestic dispatches dropped by 6.48% to 5.553 million tons, but their exports jumped by 74.62% to 4.529 million tons.
Overall, total dispatches by northern mills fell by 2.34% to 27.364 million tons, while those by southern mills increased by 18.17% to 10.082 million tons.
